US Prop Firm Eligibility: Forex and Futures

Yes, US residents have documented participation options across both simulated forex/CFD services and futures evaluation programs, but none of them reduce to a single yes. The service you select, your citizenship and permanent residence, your physical location at the time of trading, the platform you intend to use, the identity checks you must pass, and the payout provider behind withdrawals each need separate confirmation. A firm may accept US residents on one platform while restricting another, or support participation while a payout provider imposes its own conditions.

Policies were checked on 3 October 2026. This is a bounded comparison of six selected services rather than a complete market ranking, and it draws on official published policies only. No purchases were completed and no trading tests were run.

Policy inference
Conditional participation supported

US participation is supported by worldwide eligibility rules, no US exclusion in the country lists, and explicit US trader payout options. This is a policy-based inference, not a statement that every US citizen or resident qualifies. Minimum age18; citizenship, permanent residency, sanctions and partner restrictions also matter.

Conditions and source context

No US-specific platform permission or restriction verified. Country eligibility is not a platform compatibility guarantee.

Verified statement
US payout methods expressly provided

Aeropay and ACH require US banks. Prop-to-Brokerage is US-only. W-9 is required for US persons; bank account must be in the trader own name. Account rule qualification and approval remain separate.

Conditions and source context

US-specific country access does not establish individual live selection or activation. No universal live entitlement verified.

Verified statement
Do not trade while there

Even brief trading from an ineligible country may trigger Trust Team review. The travel FAQ does not separately establish whether payout requests or new purchases while traveling are permitted.

Conditional policy
US users expressly intended audience

Terms explicitly identify United States users as the intended audience. Eligibility remains subject to legal, identity, residence, sanctions and payment-country conditions. Do not infer universal eligibility for every US citizen, resident or traveler.

Conditions and source context

No US-specific platform restriction verified. Canadian live Tradovate restrictions in the policy are not US restrictions and do not establish US live-account access.

Verified statement
ACH to a US-based bank account

Declared Apex residence and bank country must both be United States. SSN or TIN is required. An international-residence profile cannot use a US bank account for payouts.

Conditions and source context

No state-by-state account eligibility restriction verified in these country and payout policies.

Individual live accessNot verified

Conditions and source context

Intended US audience and simulated-account access do not establish individual live invitation, broker acceptance or platform access.

Verified statement
No purchase, payout request or trading while physically there

The physical-location restriction is explicit even where exception documents have been provided. Restricted-country-issued payment methods are prohibited, including attempted or declined transactions.

MyFundedFuturesFutures firmChecked 2026-10-03
Policy inference
Conditional participation supported

US is absent from the current restriction list; the policy permits traders not from restricted countries when overall criteria are met, and the payout guide explicitly provides a US route. This is a policy inference. Sanctioned or partner-restricted citizenship or residency can still disqualify an applicant; legal age and identity verification apply.

Conditions and source context

No US-specific platform availability or restriction verified in these policies.

Verified statement
Plaid/ACH expressly available for US traders

Payout guide provides Rise onboarding and a US Plaid/ACH option. KYC is required before beginning simulated-funded trading, as well as for payout access. Provider or identity approval is not guaranteed.

Conditions and source context

No US state-by-state account or payout-provider restriction verified.

Individual live accessNot verified

Conditions and source context

US-specific live country eligibility and broker access not verified. Do not treat simulated account or payout availability as live entitlement.

Verified statement
Trading permitted; new purchases and resets prohibited while there

Country policy recommends notifying support about travel trading. It does not expressly resolve payout requests while traveling, and the separate KYC citizenship/residence rules still apply.

Conditional policy
US expressly named as eligible residency example

Country policy bases restriction on permanent residency and explicitly names US as an eligible example. Terms additionally require applicable legal age, permitted jurisdiction, sanctions and export compliance. Do not broaden this to every US citizen regardless of residence or sanctions.

Not verified
Not verified in this bounded review.
Conditions and source context

No US-specific platform restriction verified in the country, KYC, payout or terms sources.

Verified statement
US payout-provider verification expressly supported

Tradeify identity verification and separate payout-provider verification apply. Rise is primary; US applicants provide W-9. Plane is an alternative subject to eligibility/support approval. The Plane article mentions state restrictions affecting Rise without naming the states.

Conditions and source context

Rise state restrictions are mentioned, but affected states and applicability were not verified. Do not label those states as Tradeify purchase bans or promise Plane approval.

Individual live accessNot verified
Not verified in this bounded review.
Conditions and source context

Country policy says a denied live application prevents return to simulation, but does not guarantee live approval or provide a US-specific live entitlement.

Qualified policy
Country-rule FAQ permits eligible permanent residents to trade while traveling

The country-policy FAQ explicitly allows a resident of an eligible country such as US to continue trading while traveling in a restricted country. Additional sanctions/export obligations in Terms still apply; the FAQ does not settle every prohibited-location scenario or purchase/payout access while traveling.

Forex access depends on the US service and platform

FTMO offers a distinct simulated US service for legal US residents and US-incorporated companies. The evaluation is run through JV Prop Corporation, while rewards are paid by OANDA Prop US Corporation. This service has separate terms, and FTMO's global rules do not transfer automatically, so US participants should review the FTMO US service terms and the FTMO review before applying.

The US service supports MetaTrader 5 and TradingView, according to the US platform page. The US eligibility FAQ sets out the criteria: applicants must be 18 or older, be legal US residents or qualifying US-incorporated companies, hold a valid Tax Identification Number if a resident, and provide proof of an owned, eligible, fully licensed and regulated US bank when requested. Fintech and digital-only payment institutions, such as Wise or Chime, are not accepted, and a W-9 must be submitted before the first reward. The FAQ states it does not accept 'entities from Arkansas, Delaware, Louisiana, Montana, or South Carolina'. That is the FAQ wording, and readers must confirm how it applies to their own circumstances by checking the full policy, which includes categorical exclusions. No other state is automatically approved.

FundedNext works differently for US clients. The FundedNext US client guide documents that new US accounts use Match-Trader, and that no EAs or algorithmic execution are available on that platform for US accounts. The Stellar 1-Step, 2-Step and Lite accounts have documented US access, subject to the country and identity policy and to current purchase availability at checkout. Existing cTrader accounts can continue until breach but cannot be reset, and new US cTrader purchases stopped on 31 March 2026.

The MetaQuotes restriction that blocks MT4/MT5 connections through a US IP address is a separate platform condition, and the network policy confirms it does not apply to Match-Trader accounts. One conflict deserves explicit disclosure. The June US guide lists Stellar Instant among US-purchasable Match-Trader accounts, but the August country policy describes Stellar Instant as MT5-exclusive and unavailable to US clients. Because these official sources disagree, we exclude Stellar Instant from our supported US choices and treat the question as unresolved. Anyone considering that account needs definitive current confirmation from FundedNext before purchase. Our FundedNext review covers the account rules in more depth.

Futures participation and payout access are separate checks

Apex and Tradeify explicitly document conditional US participation. Apex's terms of use state the services and program are intended for United States users, while the country policy adds that your primary residence, mailing address and bank account must be based in a non-restricted country. Tradeify's country policy names the US as an example of an eligible permanent residency, with the terms of use adding age, jurisdiction, sanctions and export requirements.

Topstep and MyFundedFutures take a different evidentiary path. Their US participation is an inference drawn from country and eligibility rules combined with explicitly documented US payout routes, not an unconditional statement that every US applicant is approved. Topstep's eligibility article bases eligibility on citizenship and permanent residency, and MyFundedFutures' country policy permits traders not from restricted countries who meet overall criteria. Neither should be read as proof that every US platform qualifies. Our futures hub tracks exact current program rules, and the Topstep versus Apex comparison looks at those two in detail.

Payout prerequisites differ in ways that matter before you commit. Apex requires that your declared residence and bank country both be the United States, with payouts sent via ACH to a US-based bank account and an SSN or TIN required, per the US payout method article. Topstep's payout policy requires a W-9 for US persons, a bank account in your own name, and US bank requirements for relevant methods such as Aeropay and ACH.

MyFundedFutures makes KYC a prerequisite to beginning simulated-funded trading under its KYC/AML policy, with Plaid/ACH payouts available for US traders per the first payout guide. Tradeify requires separate firm and payout-provider verification: Rise is primary with a W-9 for US residents per the KYC policy, while the Plane article describes Plane as an alternative subject to eligibility and support approval, and mentions unspecified state restrictions affecting Rise.

Residency and travel can change the answer

US citizenship alone does not settle eligibility. FTMO US tests legal US residency for individuals, alongside its full policy, per the FTMO eligibility FAQ. With FundedNext, a restricted citizenship can disqualify a resident elsewhere, per the FundedNext country policy. Topstep applies citizenship and permanent residency tests, per its Topstep eligibility guidance.

Travel policies diverge sharply. Topstep's eligibility article says not to trade while physically in an ineligible country, as even brief trading from one may trigger review. Apex's country policy prohibits trading, purchases and payout requests while physically in a restricted country, even where exception documents exist. MyFundedFutures permits trading while in a restricted country but prohibits new purchases and resets there, and suggests notifying support, per its country policy.

Tradeify's country FAQ permits eligible permanent residents, including US residents, to continue trading while travelling in a restricted country, though the separate Terms sanctions and export obligations still apply and purchase or payout access while travelling is not settled by that FAQ.

Check eligibility before comparing account rules

Before comparing account rules, confirm five things in order: the exact service and plan you want, since US availability can vary by product within one firm; your citizenship, permanent residence and physical location against the firm's stated tests; your chosen platform, because platform availability and residency are separate questions; the KYC and identity documents required; and the payout-provider and bank requirements, including any state-level issues such as the unspecified Rise restrictions Tradeify mentions.

Only then move to evaluation and funded-stage rules, which are separate from eligibility. Our trailing drawdown explainer and consistency rule guide cover the mechanics of common account rules, though understanding those mechanics is not a determination of payout eligibility. Live-account selection and broker approval remain separate steps that this guide did not establish for any firm.

Frequently asked questions

Can US residents use FTMO?

Yes, US residents can access FTMO, but only conditionally. A distinct simulated FTMO US service is available, offering MT5 and TradingView platforms. Identity, residency, tax and banking requirements apply, and full state and categorical exclusions are in force, so you should check your individual circumstances in the US eligibility FAQ at https://ftmo.oanda.com/faq/who-can-join-ftmo-us/. Acceptance is not guaranteed, and global account rules do not transfer automatically.

Can a US trader use MT4 or MT5 with FundedNext?

No, not through a US IP address. FundedNext's country policy and network policy state that MetaQuotes MT4/MT5 accounts cannot connect through a US IP, and that this restriction does not apply to Match-Trader. New US accounts use Match-Trader, where EAs and algorithmic execution are not available. New US cTrader purchases stopped on 31 March 2026.

Does a firm accepting US residents guarantee payouts?

No. Acceptance and payout access are separate checks. Apex requires matching US residence and bank country plus an SSN or TIN; Topstep requires own-name accounts and US banks for relevant methods; MyFundedFutures requires KYC before simulated-funded trading; and Tradeify applies separate payout-provider verification with provider-side conditions. Provider or identity approval is never guaranteed by participation alone.
